LunaPic = Free Online Photo Editor WOW

Like PicMonkey and Photoshop Express, LunaPic (at Lunapic.com) is a free online photo editor with some impressive features. In fact, if you compare features between these three web apps, LunaPic wins hands down. With LunaPic you can edit photos and images, apply filters and effects, add text, paste secondary images, add GIF animations, edit movies and create new image elements with an extensive set of draw tools. Most effects can be applied by clicking a button, but for the tweakers among us there are additional settings and options available for most effects.

LunaPic review or lunacy por vous?

There is so much to explore and choose from at LunaPic.com that it can be a bit daunting. In fact, the biggest strike against the editor is its interface; the organization and sheer amount of stuff is hard to grasp, plus the open frame editor surrounded by ads can be confusing. Fortunately, the LunaPic team has included tutorials to help the newbie user find their way around the site and learn how to get the most out of the tool and there’s even a way to turn off the ads for the current session. Once you get used to the features and their locations, you can do amazing things with LunaPic. My only gripes are that the program lacks an intuitive layering system and you can’t save the finished image at sizes optimized for use on the Internet.

Some of LunaPics’ top features:

  • Drawing
  • Effects
  • Text
  • Animation effects
  • Blending
  • Gradients
  • History of changes
  • Magic Wand selection
  • Save options for multiple formats including: gif, jpg, png, bmp, pdf, mpg, and avi (movie files)

LunaPic is for sharing

If you want to edit for your social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter or Picasa, LunaPic makes it easy to upload your masterpieces. And LunaPic.com has a built-in sharing feature for account-holders making it a social media site, as well. While LunaPic provides great drawing, effects and animation tools, the clunky interface may not be for everyone. Personally, I like to add special effects in LunaPic—some of which would take much longer to accomplish in Photoshop—then use another editor to finish up.
