WordPress link tool use in the visual editor

Links are one of the most important parts of your website so knowing how to add links to your content is very important. With WordPress, the process is simple: highlight the anchor text–the text that will be the visible part of the link–then click the link button in the toolbar. The dialogue box that opens up presents you with several options for adding the link URL. The manual option for typing or pasting the URL and title appears at the top of the screen. Below that is an option to search your website’s content with a keyword or to scroll through the various posts and pages. Once you find the right content, just click it and the URL and title fields will be filled automatically. You can also choose whether the linked-to page will open in the same window or a new window. Surveys of users show that when linking to a new website most people prefer to open a new window, but if linking to content on your own website it’s best to stick to the same window.

Unlinking a link is even easier. Highlight the link, then click the unlink button to remove the link.
